Romania’s internet infrastructure is highly developed and competitive, boasting the top connection speed in the region, while also coming in 10th by average speed.Technology’s rise to prominence stems from the good internet infrastructure. Its reinforcement lies in the hands of a very talented developers pool, being in constant increasing number.
The internet infrastructure has evolved along with the developers that are using network to offer high quality outsourcing services, although the focus is now shifting towards product design and, consequently, startups.
In the third quarter of 2016, Romania again led the European region in average peak connection speeds, seeing a 1.0% quarterly increase to 85.0 Mbps, and a 17% yoy increase. Meanwhile, lowest-ranked Cyprus posted an 8.3% increase to 30.1 Mbps.
Developing at a fast rate, fixed broadband coverage has now come to cover 78% of households in Romania.
At European countries level, Romania ranks 6th in 4 Mbps broadband adoption.
