Romania’s internet infrastructure is highly developed and competitive, boasting the top connection speed in the region while also coming in 13th by average speed. Technology’s rise to prominence stems from the good internet infrastructure. Its reinforcement lies in the hands of a very talented developer’s pool, being in constant increasing number.
The internet infrastructure has evolved along with the developers that are using network to offer high quality outsourcing services, although the focus is now shifting towards product design and, consequently, startups.
In the first quarter of 2017, Romania ranked 2nd place, after Sweden, in the European region in average peak connection speeds, seeing a 5.4% quarterly increase to 95.0 Mbps, and a 5.7% yoy increase. Meanwhile, lowest-ranked Cyprus posted 25% yoy increase to 35.4 Mbps.

Developing at a fast rate, fixed broadband coverage has now come to cover 76% of households in Romania, in 2017.
