EUR 200 million investments by 2021 announced by Pirelli in Romania

Italian tyre manufacturing giant Pirelli announced that it plans to invest EUR 200 million in the next five years at its factory in Slatina, where the Italian group produces premium tyres for the Eastern European market. The announcement was made by the Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera at the anniversary event.

Those funds will increase Slatina’s production capacity and will create 500 new jobs. As well as boosting capacity, the investment will ensure that Slatina’s production technology remains at the cutting edge for the production of car tyres for the Premium segment, primarily destined to the markets of Eastern Europe. The enhancement plan also involves the production area in Slatina dedicated to motorsport, which includes a F1 production unit which serves as a back-up for the main Pirelli F1 plant in Turkey
